We had a great Independence Day this year!
We started it off at the Summerlin Patriotic Parade.
We have gone twice before and it was always really small and cheesy.
But this year it was awesome and 1 1/2 hours!

My two loves! Aren't I so lucky.

Hayden loved every minute of it.
(Just ignore the chubby white me in the background.)

Hayden getting anxious for the parade to start.

Mom and Lou surprised us with a visit and spent the entire day with us!
We were so excited to have them with us.

One last drink before the big event.

It started off with Uncle Sam and a patriotic float.

I loved it this year because I felt like they explored all different aspects of time and people in American history.

We got some southern pride on this "big band" float.

This Alice and Wonderland float was really cute, and so fun for the little kids!

Hayden clapping and looking up to see . . .

This HUGE dinosaur!

This native American group was doing traditional dances with big loud drums and shakers.

She sat up on her Daddy's shoulders for most of the parade.

Darth Vader and the Star Troopers were representing.

We had a mariachi band (singing included) and a traditionally dressed up donkey.

This was one of my favorite groups.
It is the military moms group.
They had blown up cutouts of their sons and husbands currently out serving in the war.
It makes you appreciate it more when you can put a face on the soldiers.

Hayden devouring some snacks to keep her loving the 1 1/2 hours of parade.

This guy was hilarious, he was with the airpatrol, and we just keep waiting for him to trip and fall he was so wobbly.

This was an amazing group. The huge eagle balloon was flying over a HUGE American flag.

These guys were great, they were dressed up like Uncle Sam on stilts, juggling and throwing batons.

We loved all the old cars and their "ah-oo00h-gah" horns!

Hayden loved the noise of the motorcycle group.

We ended the parade with another salute to the flag.
After the parade we went home and had some BBQ.
Took a nap.
Ate lots of ice cream sandwiches.
Ate some more BBQ.
Lit off our own fireworks in front of the house.
(Hayden LOVED the fireworks,
and she was so sad when we ran out.)

WHAT A FUN DAY! and what a stinkin cute little girl. That dress is darling.
So Jon and I were thinking about how we never really do anything eventful for the 4th. We really liked the 4th when you came up and we went to movies and did the park thing. Then I was thinking that I want to do that again. then I got so sad cuz you will be gone next July. When you are back on this side of the country do you think we could have another 4th of july threa-day. I would love it.
p.s i'm so glad Sadie needs a dining set! This one is great!
You got some GREAT pictures of the parade! We were there too & I think I missed a couple of those cool floats.
Looks like such a fun parade!!!! Is Hayden walking!!!???? Oh my goodness!!! so cute!
That does look like an awesome parade. We'll have to try it next year. My husband would have loved the storm trooper and Darth Vader. And I love the pig tails.
